                                         !Polycarboxylate

 

    Polycarboxlates either hopolymers or copolymers are the new type of water treatment chemicals of Industrial Circulating Cooling Water System, Oil-field Water System, Boiler Internal Treatment and Desalinization of Sea Water. It was developed in the initial stage of 1970s, when the acidic water treatment technology had been substituted by the alkaline water treatment technology. It is an important progress in the domain of Circulating Cooling Water systems.
    The starting time of research and development of Polycarboxylic Acid Compounds for water treatment are simultaneously compared with other countries. 
    Professor Li shouchun and his research group of water treatment chemicals are the vanguard and the founder of this field in China. Professor Li not only completed the task of the Ministry of Chemical Industry but also enlarged their research territory. A series of new compounds had been synthesized .Their research fruit enables the development , production, and application of water treatment chemicals to present a new aspect.
    Polycarboxylates are synthesized through special initiator and belong in the category of polyelectrolytes. It has a remarkable effect on inhibition of water-forming scale on the heat transfer surface and in the bulk phase of water. At very low concentration level a few milligrams per-liter of polycarboxylates, more than hundreds to thousands times of water forming scale such as calcium carbonate's precipitation can be inhibited, depending on the evaporation of the water phase, change in pH, pressure or temperature, and the introduction of addition ions. Polycarboxylic Acid compounds appear to be preferentially adsorbed on certain nuclei sites of calcium phosphate, barium sulfate. The result is that crystallite growth is sharply inhibited or retreated. The crystals become small, distorted and easy to drain away form system.
    Polycarboxylates possess good dispersancy for particles of clay, iron oxide, scale and remains of microorganism and algae. Therefore, polycarboxylic acid compounds are the key components of water chemical treatment formulation.
